I asked myself this question for years at internships where we would sweep the floor clean at the end of each day and discard thread scraps of varying lengths - scraps from hand sewing, snipping curly serger chains, and trimming the excess thread at the end of a stitch.
Threadworks transforms these forgotten remnants into one-of-a-kind textiles and wearable pieces. The seed for this ongoing series was planted in graduate school with my final project, Ghost Bodice, where I created a camouflage material system from nano-cell studies made of thread dipped in glue. Over 5 years, I have continued to experiment and refine techniques of turning thread scraps into textiles and reimagining material waste through mindful handcraft.
